Social Supports for Homeless MothersThe National Center, in collaboration with Health Care for the Homeless Clinician's Network, authored and published Social Supports for Homeless Mothers, a report based on a study examining the needs of homeless mothers based on data collected from ten Health Care for the Homeless sites around the country. The purpose of the publication is to help clinicians understand how social supports are critical for mothers to meet the challenges of poverty and for families to secure and maintain housing. According to the report, critical services necessary for the majority of mothers and children include: housing assistance, income support, transportation, child care, case management, health care, trauma-informed services with psycho-educational services, and children's services. Social Supports for Homeless Mothers was funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. |
