State-by-State Report Card on the Status of Homeless ChildrenThe National Center on Family Homelessness (NCFH) is creating and disseminating a state-based Report Card on Child Homelessness. The Report Card is the critical first component of a broader Campaign to End Child Homelessness which will work to place the issue of child homelessness high on our nation's agenda, educate policymakers and the public, and leverage knowledge and experience to bring an end to this national tragedy. The Campaign has three key components:
Ending family homelessness will require fundamental changes in the way policies, programs, and services are organized, delivered, and financed. The Campaign will build awareness of the pressing needs of homeless children and increase the will needed to address and prevent family homelessness. Our efforts will include: identifying, disseminating, and facilitating the adoption of model policy, planning, and program efforts; preparing strategic policy documents designed to galvanize change; conducting educational briefings for national, state, and local policymakers and program officials; and outreaching to media outlets and national and state-based advocacy groups. The State-by-State Report Card on the Status of Homeless Children is supported by The Fassino Family Foundation. |
